People Watching

My task for a class was to go to a cafe, people watch, and briefly describe and profile those people based on general appearance – to make the creative leap, so to speak, while people watching.  So I got a coffee at a cafe this Saturday, and did just that.

Some thoughts for those who have never tried this.

It felt awkward and almost creepy, glancing over someone quickly to pick out the most important traits of them – all taken in within seconds – and then scribbling down descriptions of them without them realizing.  There’s a difference between absently people-watching and people-watching with a purpose, I discovered today.

Still, it was interesting and fun.  I find people-watching and writing at cafes fascinating, and today I got to indulge in both!
